Former partners and donors

RCN Justice & Démocratie
Promoting Rule of Law in DRC
2023
With support from RCN Justice & Démocratie, CERC worked to promote the rule of law in the DRC, with the aim of strengthening the independence and integrity of the justice system and equal access to justice.
USAID
Youth Excel
2021–2023
Funded by USAID and implemented by IREX, Youth Excel engaged CERC as a local implementing partner alongside Search for Common Ground. CERC supported a Kinshasa network of 10 youth-led and youth-serving organisations to research how to include marginalised young people in education and workforce programmes; their findings were presented at a Data Summit in Kinshasa in August 2022.

IREX
Youth Represent
2021–2023
Selected by IREX to implement Youth Represent DRC, CERC trained young people from partner organisations in implementation research and gender equality. Network members then ran a joint project to support the socio-economic reintegration of 45 unemployed young people in Kinshasa.
Global Partnership for Education
Students Acting for Accountability
2021–2023
This project aimed to establish Integrity Clubs in 150 secondary schools in Kinshasa and South Kivu. Students were trained to monitor education services with the EduCheck app and to advocate with school authorities, and a memorandum of understanding was signed with the South Kivu provincial education authorities to extend Integrity Clubs.
Oxfam Denmark
Education Out Loud
2021–2023
Through Education Out Loud, the Global Partnership for Education’s fund for civil society advocacy managed by Oxfam Denmark (Oxfam IBIS), CERC was supported to research corruption and accountability in education in Kinshasa and South Kivu, train its staff and design the Students Acting for Accountability project.

UNCAC Coalition
Civil Society Parallel Report on UNCAC Implementation in the DR Congo
2020–2022
With technical and financial support from the UNCAC Coalition, funded by Norad and Danida, CERC assessed how the DRC implements Chapters II (prevention) and V (asset recovery) of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. After interviews with state and non-state actors in 2021, CERC published a civil society parallel report with recommendations to the Congolese government. Read the report

Integrity Action
Students Acting for Honesty, Integrity and Equality
2017–2021
This project set up Integrity Clubs in secondary schools in South Kivu, starting around Uvira and extending to Bukavu. Students learned about integrity and used the DevelopmentCheck tool to monitor school services and local projects. Between 2017 and 2020, 810 students in 54 Integrity Clubs were trained, and their advocacy helped fix an average of 32% of the problems they reported.

Accountability Lab
Building Integrity in DRC
2019–2020
CERC worked with Accountability Lab under its Building Integrity in the DRC programme, which supports civil society and youth-led initiatives to strengthen integrity and reduce corruption.
