Welcome to the social media pages and groups of, or managed by, the Centre de Recherche sur l’Anti-Corruption!

CERC offers you this service subject to the following terms of use (“Terms”); these terms may be updated by CERC from time to time without notice. You can read the current version of the Terms of Use at any time on this page.

CERC’s pages and groups run on the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn. They offer their members a variety of features, including but not limited to: sharing videos and photos, access to a community blog, a discussion forum, instant messaging and notifications of new developments. CERC reserves the right to change the types of features it provides at any time without notice to network members.

By using or accessing Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest, you accept the practices described in the privacy policies of all these platforms.

Taking part in the pages or groups run by CERC is optional. You are responsible for keeping your account confidential, and you are fully responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to (a) immediately report to the administrator of CERC’s pages any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security, and (b) make sure you log out of your account at the end of each session. CERC cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this section.

You understand that all information, data, messages or other media (“Content”), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person from whom that Content originated. This means that you, and not CERC, are entirely responsible for all Content that you post, email, transmit or otherwise communicate through the pages. CERC does not control the Content posted except as described below and, as such, does not guarantee the accuracy, integrity or quality of that Content. You understand that by using the Service, you may be exposed to Content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable. Under no circumstances will CERC be liable for any Content, including but not limited to any errors or omissions in any Content, or any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any Content posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available through the site.

You are entirely responsible for your actions and your content on these platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest) and must comply with these terms. By agreeing to become a member of groups and platforms created by CERC as part of its activities, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these terms and agree to be legally bound by them.

You agree not to use these platforms, and not to post, email or make available any content:

• in any way that would infringe, violate or misappropriate the intellectual property rights of a third party or any other proprietary or contractual right;
• to advertise illegal or controlled products or services, or otherwise promote activities that violate these Terms of Use or any applicable law, regulation or recognized advertising industry guideline;
• in a false, misleading, fraudulent or otherwise unlawful manner, or to promote unlawful activities, including phishing or any other type of deception aimed at obtaining financial or personal information under false pretences or for fraudulent or deceptive purposes;
• in a slanderous or defamatory manner, or in a way that is otherwise threatening, abusive, violent, harassing, malicious or harmful to any natural or legal person, or that disregards another person’s privacy;
• in any way that is harmful to minors;
• in a hateful or discriminatory way with regard to race, skin colour, sex, nationality, ethnic or national origin, marital status, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation or age, or in any way deemed unacceptable;
• to impersonate any person, falsely claim an affiliation with any natural or legal person, or gain access to this group without authorization;
• to hinder or attempt to hinder the proper functioning of this group or prevent other people from using it, or in a way that disrupts the normal flow of dialogue with an excessive number of messages (flooding attack) to this network, or that otherwise negatively affects another person’s ability to use this group;
• to use manual or automated means (agents, robots, scripts, etc.) to access or manage another user’s account or to monitor or copy this group or its content.

You acknowledge that CERC does not screen all Content, but that CERC and its staff have the right (but not the obligation), in their sole discretion, to edit, remove, refuse or move any Content available on its platforms. Without limiting the foregoing, CERC and its staff have the right to remove any Content that violates the Terms of Use or is otherwise objectionable. You agree that you must evaluate, and bear all risks associated with, the use of any Content, including any reliance on the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of such Content.

You acknowledge and agree that CERC may preserve Content and may also disclose Content if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal process; (b) enforce the Terms of Use; (c) respond to claims that any Content violates the rights of third parties; or (d) protect the rights, property or personal safety of CERC, its beneficiaries, its partners and the public.

You understand that the technical processing and transmission of the site, including your Content, may involve (a) transmissions over various networks and (b) changes to conform and adapt to the technical requirements of networks or devices.

You agree that if you post content containing statements or depictions of violence against a person, a group of people or a country, CERC will report the incident and its content to the appropriate police service.

Recognizing the global nature of the Internet, you agree to comply with all local rules regarding online conduct and acceptable Content. Specifically, you agree to comply with all applicable laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from the United States or the country in which you reside.

CERC does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available on its pages or groups. CERC only claims ownership of the content it creates for the pages and groups. It takes no responsibility for the inclusion of third-party links or other third-party content such as articles.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CERC and its partners, officers and employees from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of Content you submit, post, transmit or make available through the groups and pages, your use of the site, groups and pages, your connection to the pages and groups, your violation of the Terms of Use, or your violation of any rights of another.

You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit for any commercial purpose any portion of CERC’s site, pages and groups, use of the site, groups or pages, or access to them.

You acknowledge that CERC may establish general practices and limits concerning the use of the site, pages and groups, including without limitation the maximum number of days that posts or any other uploaded Content will be kept on the site, pages and groups it runs, and the maximum number of times (and the maximum duration for which) you may access the site in a given period. You agree that CERC has no responsibility or liability for the deletion of, or failure to store, any messages and other communications or Content maintained or transmitted by the site, pages and groups it runs. You also acknowledge that CERC reserves the right to change these general practices and limits at any time, in its sole discretion.

CERC reserves the right, at any time and from time to time, to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the site, pages and groups (or any part of them). You agree that CERC shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the site, pages and groups it runs on social media.

You agree that CERC, in its sole discretion, may terminate your access to the site and remove and delete any Content from the site for any reason, including without limitation lack of use or if CERC believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the Terms of Use. CERC may also, in its sole discretion and at any time, discontinue the site, pages and groups, or any part of them. You acknowledge that any termination of your access to the site, pages or groups under any provision of these Terms of Use may be effected without prior notice, and you acknowledge and agree that CERC may immediately suspend your access to the site, pages or groups. Further, you agree that CERC shall not be liable to you or any third party for any termination of your access to the site, pages or groups.

The Centre de Recherche sur l’Anti-Corruption, or third parties, may provide links to other websites or resources. You acknowledge and agree that CERC is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and does not endorse and is not responsible for any Content, advertising, products or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. You further acknowledge and agree that CERC shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of or reliance on any Content, goods or services available on or through any such site or resource.

The pages and groups run by CERC on social media may contain links to other sites. CERC is not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. We encourage you to be careful when you leave our site, pages or groups, and to read the privacy statements of each website that collects personally identifiable information. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by the pages and groups run by CERC.

We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use at any time. If we make changes, we will publish them and inform the community. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you with a notice on our home page. We encourage you to review this policy regularly to understand our Privacy Policy.
