UN Committee on NGOs recommends special consultative status for CERC
The Committee on NGOs opened its 2021 session by recommending that the UN Economic and Social Council grant special consultative status to CERC.

The Committee, made up of 19 members, reviews the applications of non-governmental organisations and, depending on their mandate, management and finances, grants them general consultative status, special consultative status or a place on the roster.
This is a great achievement for the Centre de Recherche sur l’Anti-Corruption and for our work with communities affected by corruption. With special consultative status, we can influence decision-making at the highest level.
Heri Bitamala, CERC’s Executive Director
What the status opens
Special consultative status gives CERC access not only to the meetings of the Council but also to its many subsidiary bodies, to the UN’s human rights mechanisms and to special events organised by the President of the General Assembly. With four years of experience in the fight against corruption, CERC can offer its expertise to the Council and its subsidiary bodies.
ECOSOC granted the status in July 2021. Read more: CERC granted special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.
